RSS is just as alive today as it’s ever been – especially in mobile

Not too long ago I probably would have been on the side of RSS use being replaced by a services based feed: like Twitter or Facebook. But I think the surge of mobile apps using RSS in new and different ways just goes to show that RSS is just as valid a transport as it always has.

For me, my RSS feeds give me the big picture when I want it. Twitter (and to a lesser degree Facebook) is the highlights reel. On the iPad, I find myself scanning the headlines in RSS feeds via newsreader apps more and more; diving into Twitter to catch any breaking news and to get that tighter interaction. As most of these arguments go each feed has it’s purpose and I’d have to think a blog these days without an RSS feed is a dead blog.

Oh yeah…I got that link from an RSS feed. Go figure.
